Cheap Healthy Snacks for Finals

With finals season coming up, I am in desperate need for some cheap healthy snacks. I don’t know about you guys, but I am constantly hungry while I study—probably from slight boredom—so I have had to develop the perfect snack plan to keep myself running to Insomnia Cookies every 20 minutes. I am all about treating yourself, but the truth is, constantly eating out during finals is super expensive and super unhealthy. No good all around.

Fruit and Veggies

At the beginning of study period, I like to cut up apples. and put them in a upperware. From there, I can bring a bag of them with peanut butter to the library for a yummy and healthy snack.

Trail Mix

I love trail mix. It can be a bit expensive, so I like to buy a huge tub and then separate it out into portioning ziploc bags. They are perfect to grab and go, and don’t spoil when you leave them in your backpack for a few hours—days—before eating.


If you have a few extra minutes, I would highly recommend making a smoothie before you hit the libraries. Smoothies are super healthy and are the perfect breakfast that you can drink on the go! I like to make mine with frozen berries, yogurt, honey, and a dash of milk. It is a great way to get your fruit fix for cheap!

I make my smoothies the night before in a Magic Bullet, and then grab it in the morning. The best part is that the Magic Bullet makes it so you can take the cup you blend in on-the-go, which is perfect for the lazy and busy girl, like me.

Cheese and Crackers

Let’s be honest. During finals all I want is to order a pizza. I love pizza, and it is such an easy meal. Now, after years of fighting with myself over pizza, I have learned the great magic that is melting cheese on crackers. Simple, I know, but it fills your cheese craving in a much healthier, cheaper way. Also, it is ready in 30 seconds! It is the perfect cheap healthy snack to quickly whip up between study sessions.

Pro-Tip: Put pesto on your crackers before the cheese if you want to feel fancy!
