Days in Paradise: Trip to St. Thomas

travel feature

When my parents mentioned kicking off 2016 with a family trip to St. Thomas, I was definitely on board. I had never been to the Virgin Islands before and was super excited to experience a new place while also escaping the cold. To add to that, it is one of the last breaks my sister and I will have together before we both leave college to enter the real world and have to start counting our vacation days…yikes.

WHAT I WORE

For our first day of our trip to St. Thomas, I figured I wanted to protect myself from the sun as much as possible while still being comfortable at the beach. Having spent the past few months in Upstate New York and Michigan, I was quite pale and knew I would turn pink as soon as I traveled without some cover up. I opted for a nice hat and a dress with sleeves that cover my shoulders, which was definitely a good call because I still turned a bit pink.

WHAT WE DID

We spent our first day enjoying some of the hotel water sports. My mom and I went for a sea kayak ride and saw a bunch of sea turtles right in the hotel bay, which was amazing. We also spent some time lounging on the beach watching iguanas run by, and relaxing in the hammock. It was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel! For dinner, we explored the island a bit and went to the Beach Club at Sunset Grille. It was amazing food with really good happy hour deals. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you plan a trip to St. Thomas!
